Auriculares rojos en la pista de Wix

WIX

On your WIX site you will publish your completed tasks done in class or outside of class. You will also write short weekly blog entry reflecting about the subject. This will become a digital learning portfolio which will represent most of your final grade.

Difference between task and blog

The blog entries (1 refection per session) are personal reflections (Reflexive diary) about how the classes are going, what you are learning and what you think of it all. They are to be more opinion based than the Tasks. They should take not less than 5 minutes.

The tasks entries (1 production per session) are more product based (acquiring competence & metacognition process). We want a summary of what you did with a certain tool during class, or outside of class. This is a more objective reflection of the content produced about one topic. Each class will will use a different ICT tool to produce this artifact. These artifacts will take much longer to generate which is why we allow for more time during class to get them done.

As a result of each class, you should complete a new task as well as write a blog entry about what you’ve experienced. Our intention is to allot for time to get this done in class, however we cannot promise this will always be the case.

Symbaloo: Symbaloo is a great content organizer. You will find during the course that you will store all different kinds of information in different webmixes. The first activity was to create an ICT toolbox webmix to embed on your “Tools” page. This will be a collection of different tools you learn during the course. This webmix should serve you long after you are done here at URJC. Again, this is for your “Tools” page and is not considered a task.

As for Digital Competence: Your digital competence will sky-rocket during this course. After only two weeks, you have your own webpage (with blog included), your own symbaloo (with a few new tools and resources in it) and maybe even becoming more active on Twitter. We understand that this start has seemed quite accelerated, but you will notice, even in the next two-three weeks, that you will be much more agile digitally. We hope that once this course is over, you will have the knowledge and tools so as to sculpt your own teaching style, within your own personal learning environment, thus modifying and redefining future teaching.

Two powerful tools for learning. We will use them for different purposes.

There are many teachers who use Instagram in different ways. Here we offer some for you to explore:

Education Week

In class we will use Instagram at the end of class as a tool for metacognition. In your groups, you should create some sort of media (a pic, a meme, a story, a gif or a video) summarizing what you did or learned during that class. Only one member of the group must post however we encourage all students to participate.

There are many teaching experiences using Twitter as a didactic tool. Here we offer some examples for you to explore.

During the year we will use Twitter to post relevant articles, announce new publications on the WIX site and to generate discussions about different topics studied in class. This means that you should periodically check your twitter account and see what is being shared. We also encourage you to post your blog and tasks done on WIX for others to see!
